BOWLING GREEN, Ky. – Shawnee State's (Ohio) Malik Nelson has garnered Mid-South Conference Men's Swimmer of the Week honors after achieving four national cuts, conference officials announced on Monday.
Pinnacle Financial Partners sponsors the Mid-South Conference Player of the Week Award program. Pinnacle Financial Partners was founded in 2000 and is headquartered in Nashville, Tennessee, with banks in eight states in the southeast United States.
Malik Nelson – Shawnee State (Ohio) – Jr. – Williamsville, Trinidad and Tobago
- Nelson clipped four NAIA national cuts during Shawnee State's midseason meet at the Wooster Invite.
- The junior hit the NAIA provisional cut in both the 50 free and the 100 free, posting times of 21.20 and 46.58, respectively.
- Nelson followed that up touching the wall in 51.45 to capture his third national cut, this time in the 100 fly.
- He closed out the meet as part of Shawnee State's 200 free relay that finished second with a NAIA standard time of 1:25.25.
- Nelson earns his first swimmer of the week honor of the season and of his career.
