BOWLING GREEN, Ky. – Three teams remain alive in the chase for the Mid-South Conference Men's Bowling Tournament title following today's second day at Southern Lanes.

Top-seeded and regular-season champion Cumberland (Tenn.) is the lone unbeaten team in the double-elimination bracket. The Phoenix awaits the winner of the consolation bracket in Saturday's finals.

Cumberland won a pair of Mega Matches in straight sets today, beating No. 5-seed Midway (Ky.) and No. 7-seed Shawnee State (Ohio) to punch its ticket to the finals.

The Mid-South Conference implemented the Mega Match format this year to mirror the NAIA National Championships. The first set consists of the total number of pins from five bowlers in a traditional game. Set two is total pinfall in five Baker team games, and the third set, if necessary, is a best-of-seven Baker match.

Shawnee State and No. 3-seed Pikeville meet in the consolation finals. Shawnee State beat Pikeville in the winner's bracket this morning before falling to Cumberland. Pikeville bounced back to beat No. 10-seed Brescia (Ky.) and No. 2-seed Tennessee Wesleyan to earn a rematch with Shawnee State.

Shawnee State and Pikeville meet at 8 a.m. CT on Saturday in a best-of-seven Baker match. The winner faces Cumberland in a Mega Match at 10 a.m. CT. If the Shawnee State-Pikeville winner beats Cumberland, the two teams will play again in a best-of-seven Baker match for the title and an automatic bid into the NAIA National Tournament.
