BOWLING GREEN, Ky. – Georgetown’s (Ky.) Navarro Nanpuya has been named the Mid-South Conference Men’s Wrestler of the Week, conference officials announced on Monday.
Pinnacle Financial Partners sponsors the Mid-South Conference Player of the Week Award program. Pinnacle Financial Partners was founded in 2000 and is headquartered in Nashville, Tennessee, with banks in eight states in the southeast United States.
Navarro Nanpuya – Georgetown (Ky.) – Jr. – 184 pounds – Omak, Wash.
- Nanpuya went 6-0, capturing the individual title at 184 pounds at the Missouri Valley Invite.
- He recorded a pair of ranked wins and tallied two tech falls, two major decisions, and two decisions.
- Nanpuya opened his tournament with a 16-0 tech fall over Brewton-Parker’s Zahquel Davis (No. 10).
- He then earned a 13-1 major decision over Concordia’s Barrett Brandt.
- Nanpuya recorded his second ranked win with a 4-0 decision over Cade Gubler (No. 21) of Montana State-Northern.
- He defeated Donovan Cavender of Montreat 16-0.
- Nanpuya punched his ticket to the finals with a 14-2 decision over Cornernstone’s Brady Heckathorn.
- In the finals, he earned a 10-3 decision over Grand View’s Thomas Even.
- He earns his first weekly honor this season.
