BOWLING GREEN, Ky. – The Lindsey Wilson (Ky.) Blue Raiders climbed to #3 and past the Cumberlands (Ky.) Patriots who slid to #4 in the NAIA Men's Soccer Coaches’ Top 25 Poll, NAIA officials announced on Wednesday.

#3 Lindsey Wilson and #13 Cumberland (Tenn.) shifted up in the national poll four spots and five spots, respectively. Bethel (Tenn.) remains outside of the top 25, but still receiving voting points.

Since the prior release of the NAIA's ratings, the Blue Raiders have amassed three more wins, totaling 14 goals in that span. Their notable victories include a 5-0 shutout of (RV) Rio Grande and a convincing 3-1 triumph over Marian (Ind.). Lindsey Wilson will next travel to #24 Spring Arbor (Mich.) on Saturday, September 20th.

The Cumberlands Patriots slipped a couple of positions to #4 following their 1-2 record since the first poll. They first lost to #19 Life (Ga.) before bouncing back with a 4-0 win against Bryan (Tenn.). However, they then suffered another defeat to West Virginia Tech, 4-2. The Patriots will be in Lebanon, Tennessee on Saturday to battle with the #13 Phoenix.

Cumberland was the biggest mover of MSC teams in the ranking, moving up five spots to #13. The Phoenix picked up three wins, including a big 5-1 victory over (RV) St. Thomas.

Bethel (Tenn.) remains in the receiving votes category despite being undefeated. The Wildcats were victorious against both (RV) Tennessee Southern and Oakland City in the time between the previous poll and the latest one.

Dalton State (Ga.) (5-0-1) remains in the top spot with 472 voting points and their 30-match winning streak. MidAmerica Nazarene (Kan.) landed second with 456 voting points and Oklahoma Wesleyan was fifth with 411.

The third NAIA Men's Soccer Top 25 Poll is scheduled to be released in two weeks on Wednesday, October 1.

Poll Methodology

  • The national poll is for publicity purposes only and does not influence the selection process for national championship consideration.
  • A panel of head coaches representing each conference and the Continental Athletic Conference (Independents) votes in the poll.
  • The Top 25 teams are selected using a points-based system: 30 points for a 1st-place vote, 29 for 2nd, 28 for 3rd, and so on.
  • For the Preseason Poll, there is no "previous ranking" column since it is the initial poll and differs from the prior rating system.
  • Teams receiving only one point are not listed as “receiving votes.”
  • The highest and lowest rankings received by each team are discarded before final tallying.
