BOWLING GREEN, Ky. – Lindsey Wilson's Michael Rempel and Cumberland’s (Tenn.) Pau Ortega are the Mid-South Conference Men’s Soccer Players of the Week, conference officials announced on Monday.
Pinnacle Financial Partners sponsors the Mid-South Conference Player of the Week Award program. Pinnacle Financial Partners was founded in 2000 and is headquartered in Nashville, Tennessee, with banks in eight states in the southeast United States.
MSC Men’s Soccer Defensive Player of the Week
Michael Rempel – Lindsey Wilson – Sr. - Defender – Asuncion, Paraguay
- Rempel scored the go-ahead, free kick goal for the #7 Blue Raiders against (RV) Georgia Gwinnett.
- In that same contest against the Grizzlies, Rempel assisted on the insurance goal in Lindsey Wilson’s 3-1 win.
- Against #23 Rio Grande (Ohio), he was instrumental leading the team’s defense to keep the RedStorm scoreless.
- Rempel earns his second weekly conference honor of the season and his career.
MSC Men’s Soccer Offensive Player of the Week
Pau Ortega – Cumberland (Tenn.) – Fr. – Forward – Tarragona, Spain
- Ortega, as a defensive midfielder, scored a goal from the Phoenix’s own half and then the third and final goal of Cumberland’s win against Grace (Ind.).
- In the Phoenix’s 5-5 tie with Tennessee Southern, Ortega garnered his first assist of the season from his corner kick.
- Ortega earns his first conference weekly honor of his career.
