MARION, Ind. -- Lindsey Wilson's (Ky.) Maxwell Wordui captured a national championship today on the second day of the NAIA Men's Track & Field Championship hosted by Indiana Wesleyan.
Lindsey Wilson jumped into the top five and into a tie for fifth place with Cumberlands (Ky.) with 15 points. Cumberland (Tenn.) is tied for 18th with six points.
Wordui won the men's long jump with a leap of 25 feet and 4.75 inches to win the national title and claim 10 points. Wordui's teammate, Tremaine Browne, finished fourth in the event with a distance of 24-5.25 feet. He earned five points for his finish.
Wordui becomes the second national champion from the MSC in the championship.
Cumberlands' Luca Madeo captured the 10,000-meter national championship on Wednesday.
Cumberlands' Nigel Steenwinkel added five points to the Patriots' team total after his fourth-place finish in the decathlon. He tallied 6,595 points over the 10 events.
All six of Cumberland's points came on Wednesday.
Fourteen events are scheduled to be contested today on the final day of the championship.
British Columbia leads the team standings with 44 points. Carroll (Mont.) is second with 34 points, followed by Marian (Ind.) with 26 points in third.
