BOWLING GREEN, Ky. – Cumberland’s (Tenn.) Sammy Shires has been named the Mid-South Conference Men’s Wrestler of the Week, conference officials announced on Monday.
Pinnacle Financial Partners sponsors the Mid-South Conference Player of the Week Award program. Pinnacle Financial Partners was founded in 2000 and is headquartered in Nashville, Tennessee, with banks in eight states in the southeast United States.
Sammy Shires – Cumberland (Tenn.) – R-Jr. – 141 pounds – Clarksville, Tenn.
- Shires went 3-0 at the Rocky Top Duals with three pins.
- All three of his pins came in the first period.
- Shires pinned Rio Grande’s (Ohio) Connor Blessing in 1:42.
- He then pinned Landon Holmes of Williams Baptist (Ark.) in 1:36.
- Shires pinned Christian Nesby of Pikeville (Ky.) in 2:06.
- He earns his first weekly honor this season.
