BOWLING GREEN, Ky. – The Mid-South Conference unveiled the 2025 men's soccer awards on Thursday.

Cumberland's (Tenn.) Philipp Schmidtke was named MSC Player of the Year, Lindsey Wilson's (Ky.) Michael Rempel earned MSC Defensive Player of the Year honors, and Cumberland's Miquel Gelabert was voted as MSC Freshman of the Year.

Conference coaches vote for the individual awards as well as the all-conference teams. Coaches are not allowed to vote for their own players.

Cumberlands' (Ky.) Paulo Neto was selected by his peers as the MSC Coach of the Year, while Cumberlands' Jack Smith is the MSC Assistant Coach of the Year.

Schmidtke leads the Mid-South Conference with 41 points and 15 goals this season. His 11 assists are third-best in the conference. Schmidtke scored in 10 of his 15 matches this season, including scoring multiple goals five times. He becomes the first men's soccer player in Cumberland's history to earn MSC Player of the Year honors.

Rempel anchored a Lindsey Wilson backline that surrendered a conference-leading 0.80 goals per match this season. He has also scored three times and assisted on seven more for the Blue Raiders. The defensive player of the year award is the second straight for Rempel.

Gelabert is second in the Mid-South in both points (38) and goals (14). His 10 assists this season are the fourth most in the MSC this season. Gelabert scored multiple goals in four games this season, including both goals in the Phoenix's 2-0 win over Campbellsville (Ky.) in the MSC Tournament Quarterfinals.

Neto and Smith led Cumberlands to the regular-season title in 2025. The Patriots scored 15 points in the table. The regular-season crown is Cumberlands' fourth in the program's history and first since 2008 season.

Eleven student-athletes are selected for the first team, and another 11 earn second-team honors.
