BOWLING GREEN, Ky. – Lindsey Wilson's (Ky.) Anthony Latessa and Cumberland's (Tenn.) Harley Dixon were voted as the top sports communicators in the Mid-South Conference in 2025-26, MSC officials announced on Monday.

Latessa was selected by his peers as the Bill Sergent Sports Information Director of the Year, while Dixon was picked as the Mid-South Assistant SID of the Year.

The sports information director of the year is named after former Cumberlands' (Ky.) SID Bill Sergent, who served as the university's lead communicator for 24 years.

The awards are presented to the sports communicators who demonstrate outstanding service in their profession to their institution, the Mid-South Conference, and to the NAIA at the conference, regional, and national levels. Special consideration will be given to individuals who have participated in MSC and/or NAIA championship events. Each institution's sports information director votes on the awards. They are not allowed to vote for themselves or their assistant.

Sports Information Director of the Year

Latessa earns his first conference sports information director of the year honor.

He led the Lindsey Wilson communication effort in covering five Mid-South Conference regular-season championships and four conference tournament titles.

"I am very honored to be voted by my peers as the Bill Sergent SID of the Year," Latessa said. "The Mid-South Conference has a great group of Sports Information Directors, and to earn this award is an incredible honor.

"This award is also a testament to my staff at Lindsey Wilson for their hard work this year in covering our teams and student-athletes," Latessa added. "I am fortunate to work with great people who take great pride in what we do in covering athletics here at Lindsey Wilson."

In addition to his efforts for Lindsey Wilson, Latessa assisted in multiple conference championships, while assisting the Mid-South in the promotion of the conference's players of the week.

"I want to congratulate Anthony on this deserved recognition," Lindsey Wilson athletics director said. "This is a reflection of his hard work and dedication, and that of the entire Lindsey Wilson sports information team. The Mid-South Conference has some outstanding sports information professionals, so this honor is quite an achievement."

Assistant Sports Information Director of the Year

Dixon earns his first Mid-South Conference Assistant Sports Information Director of the Year honor.

He helped the Phoenix sports communication office promote four Mid-South Conference regular-season and two conference tournament championship teams in 2025-26.

"It's an amazing feeling to be named the Mid-South Conference Assistant SID of the Year in a league with so many incredible athletics communicators," Dixon said. "Our entire office here at Cumberland is dedicated to going above and beyond what is asked of us, and from our interns and graduate assistants to our full-time staff, this award reflects the collective effort that goes into promoting our student-athletes and telling their stories every day. I'm incredibly grateful and humbled to work alongside such a talented group of people who make this recognition possible."

"Each school plays its part in raising the standard of the Mid-South Conference, and without our gifted student-athletes, administrators, coaches, and fellow sports information professionals, none of what I do would be possible," Dixon added.

"Harley has been an outstanding addition to our department from the moment he arrived on campus," Cumberland sports information director Kyle Allen said. "He has elevated our broadcasts and the exposure of Cumberland Athletics. His work ethic, creativity, and willingness to learn have made a tremendous impact on Cumberland Athletics, and this recognition is well deserved."
