BOWLING GREEN, Ky. -- Top-seeded Lindsey Wilson (Ky.) captured its fourth straight Mid-South Conference Women's Tennis Tournament title today with a 4-0 win over second-seeded Cumberlands (Ky.) at the Warren County Tennis Facility.

The No. 2-ranked Blue Raiders (16-1) earn the MSC's automatic bid into the NAIA National Tournament in May in Mobile, Alabama.

Despite the final score, Cumberlands (15-5) provided Lindsey Wilson with a tough battle.

The doubles action went the distance, and the No. 13-ranked Patriots led in one singles match and were tied in another when the Blue Raiders clinched the decisive championship point.

Lindsey Wilson took the 1-0 lead after winning two of the three doubles matches.

Martina Cortal and Mayra Gisone -- ranked No. 3 in the NAIA in doubles -- overwhelmed Marina Nagai and Bryndis Rosa 6-1 on court No. 2. Cumberlands matched the Lindsey Wilson win with a 6-3 victory on court three. Haruna Kojima and Victoria Zarate upset No. 17-ranked Mariangeles Mateu and Blanca Trillo to push all of the doubles attention to court one.

In a battle of nationally-ranked doubles teams, fifth-ranked Heyka Rodriguez and Javiera Verdugo outlasted 19th-ranked Mahiro Hara and YuFang Liu 6-4 in the top-seeded match to give the Blue Raiders the 1-0 advantage.

Lindsey Wilson used the doubles momentum to sweep the completed singles matches for the program's conference-leading 20th MSC Tournament title.

Mateu -- ranked No. 53 in the NAIA in singles -- doubled the Blue Raiders' lead with a 6-2, 6-4 win over Zarate on court three.

No. 17-ranked Gisone provided the most impressive singles win with a 6-2, 6-0 win over 30th-ranked and MSC Women's Tennis Player of the Year Nagai in the top-seeded match.

Cortal clinched the championship just in front of Rodriguez, completing her match.

Cortal def. Bryndis Rosa 6-3, 6-4 on court two to give Lindsey Wilson a 4-0 win.

Rodriguez was serving for the win on court 6, while Kojima was one game away from winning on court five. Trillo and Liu split the first two sets on court five. All three matches were stopped after the Blue Raiders clinched the team win.

Lindsey Wilson wins its 13th straight match heading into the NAIA National Championship. Cumberlands now awaits to see if it will earn an at-large bid into the national tournament.
