Lindsey Wilson Women's Tennis Advances to MSC Championship

BOWLING GREEN, Ky. - - Lindsey Wilson (Ky.) heads back to the Mid-South Conference Championship with a dominant semifinal performance on Saturday, defeating five-seeded Bethel (Tenn.) 4-0 in the tournament semifinals at Warren County Tennis Facility.

The Blue Raiders (15-1) set the tone early by claiming the doubles point to take a 1-0 lead, earning 6-1 and 7-5 victories on courts two and three.

Lindsey Wilson carried that momentum into singles play, picking up wins on courts one, three, and five to secure the match. The remaining contests were stopped once the Blue Raiders reached the four-point clinch.

Lindsey Wilson’s Blanca Trillo started the singles run with a 6-0, 6-2 win over Cloe Casado on court five to give the Blue Raiders a 2-0 lead. 

Mariangles Mateu – ranked No. 53 in the NAIA – won 6-1, 6-0 over Paula Milla Becerra for a 3-0 lead over the Wildcats (11-11). No. 17-ranked Mayra Gisone clinched the win in the top-seeded match with a 6-1, 6-0 win over Camila Barragan Cana to send Lindsey Wilson to the championship on Sunday.

With the win, Lindsey Wilson advances to the finals, where they faces the winner of No. 2-seed Cumberlands (Ky.) and No. 3-seed Cumberland (Tenn.), with first serve scheduled for noon CT.
