ELKHART, Ind. -- Cumberlands' (Ky.) Titouan Bernot captured a national championship to help the Patriots soar into the top five following the second day of the 2026 NAIA Men's Swimming & Diving Championships at the Elkhart Health & Aquatics Center.
The Patriots are fifth with 114 team points with two days remaining in the championship. Lindsey Wilson (Ky.) is 11th with 60 points.
Keiser (Fla.) leads at the midway point with 263 points.
Bernot touched the wall first in the 500-yard freestyle with a time of four minutes and 22.64 seconds -- the second fastest time in NAIA National Championship history. He won the championship by over a second over second place, earning the Patriots' 19th individual national title in the program's history.
Lindsey Wilson's Sergio Ybarra finished fifth in the 500 with a time of 4:29.59, while his teammate Ethan Butler ended in seventh with a time of 4:34.07.
All three individuals earn NAIA All-American honors -- reserved for the top eight finishers in each event.
Cumberlands' Alexander Poulsen also earned all-American honors for a fifth-place finish in the 50-yard freestyle. He completed 50 yards in 19.97 seconds.
The final all-American swim of the day from a Mid-South Conference student-athlete came in the 200-yard freestyle relay. The Cumberlands quartet finished the race in 1:20.04 to end in third place.
The championships continue on Friday with 100 butterfly, 400 IM, 200 freestyle, 100 breaststroke, 100 backstroke, 400 medley relay, and 1-meter diving.
