BOWLING GREEN, Ky. -- Cumberland (Tenn.) and Pikeville (Ky.) are two of 12 teams in the NAIA Women's Bowling National Championship, NAIA officials announced on Monday.
Cumberland -- who earned the MSC's automatic bid into the championship -- is the No. 11 seed, while Pikeville, who received one of the six at-large bids, is the No. 2 seed. The championship is scheduled for March 19-21 at Royal Scot Lanes in Lansing, Michigan.
The tournament field is divided into two brackets, Blue and Red, each with six teams in a double-elimination tournament.
Pikeville earns a bye into the second round of the Red Bracket and will face the winner of the first-round match featuring No. 7-seed Ottawa (Kan.) and No. 10-seed Morningside (Iowa). Pikeville opens the tournament at 1:30 p.m. ET on Thursday, March 19.
Cumberland faces No. 6-seed Lawrence Tech, also in the Red Bracket. The winner advances to meet No. 3-seed Milligan (Tenn.). Cumberland begins national tournament play at 8:30 a.m. ET on Thursday.
All winner's-bracket matches use the new Mega Match format.
