Cumberlands in Sixth at NAIA Competitive Cheer National Championship

TOPEKA, Kan. – Cumberlands (Ky.) is sixth following the preliminary round of the 10th Annual Nfinity NAIA Competitive Cheer National Championship, hosted by Visit Topeka at the Stormont Vail Events Center.

The Patriots scored 89.73 in the preliminary round -- which is 25 percent of the combined total during the championship. The final round, slated for Saturday, makes up 75 percent of the final score.

St. Ambrose (Iowa) leads the championship at the midway point after posting a 93.42. Oklahoma City is second with a score of 92.92, followed by Indiana Wesleyan, in third with a score of 91.88.

Fifteen competitive cheer teams took to the mat today. Cumberlands was one of eight automatic qualifiers in the field after winning the Mid-South Conference Championship on March 14.

The final round is scheduled to begin at 10 a.m. CT on Saturday.
