BOWLING GREEN, Ky. - Three Mid-South Conference men's teams earn a mention in the latest NAIA Men’s Tennis Coaches’ Top 25 Poll, NAIA officials announced on Wednesday.
Cumberlands (Ky.) is the top-ranked MSC team at No. 5. The Patriots (10-4) jumped two spots after picking up 252 voting points from the national raters. Cumberlands returns to action on Friday at the NAIA Blast Off against No. 9-ranked Xavier (La.) in Rome, Georgia.
Lindsey Wilson (Ky.) slipped one spot to No. 6 this week. The Blue Raiders (6-2) received 244 voting points from the raters. Lindsey Wilson returns to action on Monday when they host Cumberlands in Columbia.
Cumberland (Tenn.) dropped three spots to No. 22 after receiving 85 voting points. The Phoenix (4-5) returns to action on Saturday at Bethel (Tenn.) in McKenzie, Tennessee.
Georgia Gwinnett remains No. 1 in the poll with 300 voting points, followed by No. 2 Tennessee Wesleyan with 290 points and No. 3 Keiser (Fla.) with 280 points.
Poll Methodology
- The national poll is for publicity purposes only and does not influence the selection process for national championship consideration.
- A panel of head coaches representing each conference and the Continental Athletic Conference (Independents) votes in the poll.
- The Top 25 teams are selected using a points-based system:
- 30 points for a 1st-place vote, 29 for 2nd, 28 for 3rd, and so on.
- The highest and lowest rankings received by each team are discarded before final tallying.
- Teams receiving only one point are not listed as "receiving votes."
- For the Preseason Poll, there is no "previous ranking" column since it is the initial poll and differs from the prior rating system.
