LOUISVILLE, Ky. -- Cumberlands (Ky.) won its fourth straight Mid-South Conference Women's Indoor Track & Field Championship today at the Norton Healthcare Sports and Learning Center.
The Patriots completed the one-day event with 294 points.
Lindsey Wilson (Ky.) finished second with 197 points and Georgetown (Ky.) placed third with 85 points. Campbellsville (Ky.) finished fourth with 79 points, followed by Cumberland's (Tenn.) 35 points and Bethel's (Tenn.) five points.
Cumberlands recorded 11 first-place finishes in the 20 events. Lindsey Wilson ended with eight first-place finishes. Cumberlands added 11 seconds and seven thirds to end the day with a championship-best 29 podium finishes.
The top three finishers in each event earn All Mid-South Conference honors.
Three NAIA National Championship Qualifying Standards were set today.
Lindsey Wilson's Promise Amasiatu set A standards in the 60 meters (7.43 seconds) and 200 meters (24.35 seconds). Cumberlands Heather Durrant earned an A standard with a time of 15:02.85 in the 3,000-meter race walk.
Following the championship, Cumberlands' Abia Kante was named MSC Women's Indoor Track & Field Athlete of the Year, while Amasiatu was named the MSC Freshman of the Year honors. Kante scored 25 points during the championships, while Amasiatu tallied 22.5 points.
Lindsey Wilson's Anthony Thompson was selected by his peers as the MSC Women's Indoor Track & Field Coach of the Year. Lindsey Wilson's Alexia DeHaven was voted MSC Women's Indoor Track & Field Assistant Coach of the Year.
