BOWLING GREEN, Ky. – Cumberland’s (Tenn.) Emmaleigh Tarpley and Bethel’s (Tenn.) Mikee Buchanan have been named the Mid-South Conference Women’s Basketball Players of the Week, conference officials announced on Monday.
Pinnacle Financial Partners sponsors the Mid-South Conference Player of the Week Award program. Pinnacle Financial Partners was founded in 2000 and is headquartered in Nashville, Tennessee, with banks in eight states in the southeast United States.
MSC Women’s Basketball Defensive Player of the Week
Emmaleigh Tarpley – Cumberland (Tenn.) – Jr. – Forward – Manchester, Tenn.
- Tarpley averaged 8.5 rebounds, 1.5 steals, and a block for Phoenix’s 1-1 week.
- The junior was instrumental in the team’s upset over #21 Cumberlands (Ky.), posting two critical steals in the contest.
- Tarpley earns her third weekly honor of this season.
MSC Women’s Basketball Offensive Player of the Week
Mikee Buchanan – Bethel (Tenn.) – So. – Forward – Paducah, Ky.
- Buchanan led the #3 Wildcats in their come-from-behind victory over #13 Lindsey Wilson, collecting a game-high 27 points.
- On the week, the sophomore averaged 21 points and ten rebounds per game, shooting 47% from the floor.
- Buchanan earns her first conference honor this season.
