BOWLING GREEN, Ky. – Life’s (Ga.) Kennedy Russell has been named the Mid-South Conference Women’s Wrestler of the Week, conference officials announced on Monday.
Pinnacle Financial Partners sponsors the Mid-South Conference Player of the Week Award program. Pinnacle Financial Partners was founded in 2000 and is headquartered in Nashville, Tennessee, with banks in eight states in the southeast United States.
Kennedy Russell – Life (Ga.) – Fr. – 124 pounds – Redding, Calif.
- Russell went 4-0 at the Red Lady Open, capturing the title at 124 pounds.
- She recorded two pins, a tech fall, and a decision.
- Russell opened her tournament with a 10-0 tech fall against Chloe Parets of Huntingdon.
- She then pinned Newberry’s Trinity Hallis in the first period.
- In the semifinals, Russell earned a hard-fought decision over Kara-lynn Dover.
- She needed just 45 seconds to pin Ayonna McNeil of Mount Olive in the finals.
- Russell earns her first weekly honor of the season.
