BOWLING GREEN, Ky. – Cumberlands' (Ky.) Javiero Izquierdo and Cumberland's (Tenn.) Philipp Schmidtke are the Mid-South Conference Men’s Soccer Players of the Week, conference officials announced on Monday.
Pinnacle Financial Partners sponsors the Mid-South Conference Player of the Week Award program. Pinnacle Financial Partners was founded in 2000 and is headquartered in Nashville, Tennessee, with banks in eight states in the southeast United States.
 
MSC Men’s Soccer Defensive Player of the Week
Javiero Izquierdo – Cumberlands (Ky.) – Sr. - Goalkeeper – Asturias, Spain
 

• Izquierdo allowed just one goal in two matches to help the No. 4-ranked Patriots to a 1-0-1 week last week.
• He helped shut out No. 11-ranked Bethel (Ind.) 1-0, stopping all four of the Pilots' shots on goal.
• Izquierdo recorded a pair of saves in a 1-1 draw with Grace (Ind.) to open the season.
• Izquierdo earns the first weekly conference honor of his career.

 
MSC Men’s Soccer Offensive Player of the Week
Philipp Schmidtke – Cumberland (Tenn.) – Jr. – Forward – Gifhorn, Germany

• Schmidtke produced two goals and three assists to help the Phoenix to a pair of wins in Montgomery, Alabama, last week.
• He assisted on two goals in Cumberland's 4-0 upset of No. 6-ranked Mobile (Ala.) to open the season.
• Two days later, Schmidtke scored twice and assisted on a third goal to beat Faulkner (Ala.) on the road.
• Schmidtke earns his first conference weekly honor of the season and second of his career.
