BOWLING GREEN, Ky. -- Two Mid-South Conference teams are ranked and three more are just outside the poll in the NAIA Football Coaches’ Preseason Top 25 Poll, NAIA officials announced on Monday.

Campbellsville (Ky.) and Georgetown (Ky.) are ranked, while Bethel (Tenn.), Cumberland (Tenn.), and Cumberlands (Ky.) are three of 10 teams to receive voting points but fall short of the top 25 in the preseason poll.

Georgetown is the highest-ranked MSC team at No. 9. The Tigers received 299 voting points from the national raters. Georgetown reached the NAIA National Quarterfinals last season en route to a 9-3 season. The Tigers open the 2025 season at 6 p.m. ET on Saturday, August 30, against Pikeville (Ky.).

Campbellsville checks in at No. 20 in the poll following a 9-2 season in 2024. The Tigers garnered 134 voting points in the preseason poll. Campbellsville kicks off its season at noon ET on Saturday at No. 24-ranked Saint Francis (Ind.) in Fort Wayne, Indiana.

Cumberland picked up 15 voting points, followed by Bethel's seven points and Cumberland's two points.

Cumberlands faces Union Commonwealth (Ky.) in Barbourville, Ky., on Thursday night, while Cumberland is at Tennessee Tech on Saturday. Bethel opens its season on Saturday, Sept. 6, at Mary Hardin Baylor (Texas).

Defending national champion Grand View (Iowa) sits atop the poll with 420 voting points. Keiser (Fla.) is No. 2 with 406 voting points, followed by Morningside (Iowa) with 385 voting points. Benedictine (Kan.) (382 voting points) and Montana Western (363) completes the top five.

The first regular-season poll is scheduled to be released on Monday, Sept. 15.

Poll Methodology

·       The national poll is for publicity purposes only and does not influence the selection process for national championship consideration.

·       A panel of head coaches representing each conference and the Continental Athletic Conference (Independents) votes in the poll.

·       The Top 25 teams are selected using a points-based system: 30 points for a 1st-place vote, 29 for 2nd, 28 for 3rd, and so on.

·       The highest and lowest rankings received by each team are discarded before final tallying.

·       Teams receiving only one point are not listed as “receiving votes.”

·       For the Preseason Poll, there is no "previous ranking" column since it is the initial poll and differs from the prior rating system.
