CAMPBELLSVILLE, Ky. – Trey Henderson, the reigning Mid-South Conference Assistant Coach of the Year, has been promoted to interim head coach of the Campbellsville University women's soccer program, Athletic Director Adam Preston announced Wednesday.
"As an assistant coach, Trey was an integral part of our 2024 women's team that was one of the best in the nation," Preston said. "He was highly recommended by former coach Alex Adams and I am confident he will step in and do a great job."'
Henderson steps into the lead role after serving as a key assistant during the 2024 season, which saw the Lady Tigers achieve the best record in program history at 18-2-1 and advance to the NAIA National Championship final site.
"I'm incredibly honored to be given the chance to lead this program forward," Henderson shared. "From the moment I arrived, this university has felt like home - a place where the people, the culture, and the community truly stand out. I'm proud to be part of it. I am also privileged to be working with so many incredibly talented and driven group of players. I'm very excited to build on our success from last year as we continue to grow and compete at a high level. I want to sincerely thank Coach Alex Adams for bringing me here. He laid a strong foundation that I am committed to build upon as we take these next steps forward together."
A native of Chamblee, Georgia, Henderson brought extensive experience to Campbellsville. Prior to his arrival, he was an assistant coach at Georgia Gwinnett College from 2019 to 2024, where he helped the Grizzlies capture two Continental Conference Championships and make five NAIA National Tournament appearances.
Henderson has a proven track record of player development, having served as a head coach for the Atlanta Fire United ECNL teams and as a staff coach for the Georgia Olympic Development Program, which identifies and develops players for U.S. National Teams. He holds a USSF 'C' Coaching License and a National Youth License.
Henderson played collegiately for four seasons at Reinhardt University, where he earned his bachelor's degree in Special Education.
