GAINSVILLE, FL – The NAIA Indoor Track & Field Championships conclude as the University of the Cumberlands claim the title for the first time in program history.
Cumberlands’ honors kicked off with their Head Coach, Bradley Sowder, earning NAIA Women’s Coach of the Year. The Patriots would rack up five medals, first in the 5k, Alina Boshchuk placed third to earn the bronze. In the long jump, Abia Kante placed second to earn the silver. Mya Hines placed third in the high jump, securing the bronze, and secured the silver in the pentathlon. In the 3000 race walk, Alexa Governor finished second to secure the silver.
Cumberland University would claim three medals, and Praise Idamadudu won two herself. Earning gold in the 400m, Idamadudu marked her seventh national title. She wouldn’t stop there, claiming the silver medal in the 200m. In the field, Daveina Watson would earn bronze in the shot put.
The MSC finished the championships with eight athletes medaling.
