Flowers honored with NAIA Defensive Player of the Week

- Senior forward Tyra Flowers of Campbellsville (Ky.) emerged as NAIA Women's Basketball Defensive Player of the Week. Hailing from Winchester, Ky., Flowers displayed her defensive skill across three decisive victories for Campbellsville.

Averaging an impressive 9.7 rebounds and 4.7 steals per game, she was a cornerstone of the Tigers' defense. Over the course of the week, Flowers accumulated a total of 29 rebounds, 18 of which were offensive, and a remarkable 14 steals.

Her standout performances began with a commanding display against Webber International (Fla.), where she recorded 12 rebounds, four steals, and one block in just 21 minutes of play, contributing significantly to the Tigers' 84-44 triumph. Flowers secured eight offensive and four defensive rebounds in that game alone.

Against Tennessee Southern, she added another nine rebounds, four steals, and a block to her weekly tally. In this matchup, she also showcased her offensive skills, scoring 10 points with a perfect 4-for-4 from the free-throw line, helping Campbellsville secure an 81-49 victory.

The week culminated with a gritty performance against Reinhardt (Ga.), she notched eight rebounds and an impressive six steals, leading the Tigers to a 63-50 win.

Flowers played an average of 22.7 minutes per game and added overall shooting percentages of 27.3% from the field and 62.5% from the free-throw line. While her scoring averaged 5.7 points per game.
