BOWLING GREEN, Ky. – The Cumberlands (Ky.) The Patriots tumbled in spots but held onto their top-ten rating in the fourth NAIA Women's Soccer Coaches' Top 25 Poll, NAIA officials announced on Wednesday.

At 9th, the Patriots have lost two straight games over the past two weeks: first, to the new #22 Lindsey Wilson Blue Raiders, 1-0, and then to the #11 Truett McConnell Bears, 3-0. Cumberlands' next match is against their Mid-South Conference foe Campbellsville, which returned to the receiving votes category in this latest national rating.

Since the prior poll, the Cumberland Phoenix have gone 2-1-1, slipping three spots to #15. They tied with the Blue Raiders and then lost 3-1 to #12 Life. However, in their past two matches (which have been conference contests), the Phoenix have collected 13 goals while only allowing one.

Lindsey Wilson's aforementioned tie and victory (against the Phoenix and the Patriots, respectively) have vaulted the Blue Raiders into the Top 25. Most recently, they also shut out the #25 Georgia Gwinnett Grizzlies, 2-0. Lindsey Wilson's Efua Asabel and Demi Serman were both just named MSC and NAIA Players of the Week.

The Campbellsville Tigers received nine votes.

Keiser (Fla.) remained #1, collecting 16 first-place votes and 508 voting points. William Carey (Miss.) garnered 489 voting points in second place, while Marian (Ind.) was third with their 477 points and two first-place votes. College at Idaho came in fourth with 449 points, and Missouri Valley was fifth with 438.

The fifth women's soccer poll is scheduled to be released on Wednesday, October 29th.

Poll Methodology

  • The national poll is for publicity purposes only and does not influence the selection process for national championship consideration.
  • A panel of head coaches representing each conference and the Continental Athletic Conference (Independents) votes in the poll.
  • The Top 25 teams are selected using a points-based system:
    • 30 points for a 1st-place vote, 29 for 2nd, 28 for 3rd, and so on.
  • The highest and lowest rankings received by each team are discarded before final tallying.
  • Teams receiving only one point are not listed as “receiving votes.”
  • For the Preseason Poll, there is no "previous ranking" column since it is the initial poll and differs from the prior rating system.
