MARION, Ind. – Cumberlands won the 2024 NAIA Men's Outdoor Track & Field National Championship Friday.
The Patriots topped the field with 64 points edging out runner-up Marian by two points. Cumberland finished tied for 39th with six points while Georgetown tallied four to tie for 54th. Campbellsville earned a pair of team points finishing tied for 69th.
Cumberlands' Luca Santorum won the national championship in the 1,500 meters finishing with a time of 3:47.49. Teammate Youssef Asslouj finished runner-up earning All-American honors with a time of 3:48.07.
Santorum and Cumberland's Joel Forbes earned All-American honors in the 800. Santorum finished runner-up with a time of 1:49.78 while Forbes was sixth finishing in 1:51.42.
Asslouj finished runner-up in the 5,000 with a time of 14:33.21. Bethel's Joseph Skoog finished seventh with a time of 14:38.10 to earn All-American status. Cumberlands' Dennis Kipkurui finished 10th.
Cumberlands' Tristan Petrey earned All-American honors in the pole vault with a distance of 5.05 meters. Georgetown's Wilson Pendleton and Cumberland's Juan Orejuela De La Rosa earned All-American honors in the shot put. Pendleton finished fifth while De La Rosa was sixth.
Campbellsville's Ishan Cooper competed in the men's 110 hurdles final and finished ninth with a time of 14.34.
