Lindsey Wilson Men's Golf Tied for Third at NAIA National Championship

SILVIS, Ill. -- Lindsey Wilson (Ky.) is tied for third and Cumberlands (Ky.) is tied for 20th following today's first round of the 74th Annual NAIA Men's Golf National Championship at TPC Deere Run.

The Blue Raiders posted a team score of 290 over the 6,703-yard, par 70 layout -- home of the PGA's John Deere Classic. Cumberlands carded a 301 this afternoon.

Science and Arts (Okla.) leads the tournament with an opening round of 281, while Hastings (Neb.) is in second place with a team total of 288. Lindsey Wilson is tied with Oklahoma City for third, and Grand View (Iowa) is in fifth place following a 291.

Polakrit Pawichai led the Blue Raiders with a 1-over par 71 over the Pawichai carded an opening round-best 15 pars during the round. He fired a 1-under par 33 on his second nine -- Deere Run's front side.

Colby Johnson had the best round today for the Patriots, carding a 2-over par 72. His round included a pair of birdies while posting a 2-under par on the front nine -- his second nine holes of the day.

Cumberland's (Tenn.) Gustav Fredriksson -- playing as an individual -- finished the round with a 7-over par 77 today. He is tied for 97th in the 156-man field.

Four players are tied atop the individual leaderboard at 2-under par 68.

Cumberlands begins its second round at 8:10 a.m. CT, while Fredriksson tees off at 9 a.m. CT, part of Wednesday's morning session. Lindsey Wilson starts its second round at 12:20 p.m. CT on Wednesday in the afternoon session.
