Cumberlands Baseball Ranked No. 8 in NAIA Top-25 Poll

BOWLING GREEN, Ky. -- Cumberlands (Ky.) remained in the top 10 of the latest NAIA Baseball Top-25 Poll, NAIA officials announced on Wednesday.

Cumberlands (26-6) is No. 8 in the poll after receiving 334 voting points from the national raters. The Patriots have won three straight games and 10 of their last 11 games. Cumberlands returns to action this weekend as they travel to Bethel (Tenn.) for a three-game series in McKenzie, Tennessee.

Freed-Hardeman (Tenn.) is one of 14 teams outside the Top 25 but is receiving voting points from the national raters. The Lions (22-10) are riding a five-game winning streak heading into their three-game weekend series with Lindsey Wilson (Ky.) in Columbia, Ky.

Taylor (Ind.) moved up to No. 1 in the latest poll with 440 voting points and nine of the 16 first-place votes. Georgia Gwinnett is No. 2 with 435 voting points and six first-place votes. Bellevue (Neb.) is No. 3 with 423 voting points, followed by LSU Shreveport at No. 4 with 397 voting points and the final first-place vote.

The next NAIA Baseball Top-25 Poll is scheduled for Wednesday, April 15.

 

Poll Methodology

  • The national poll is for publicity purposes only and does not influence the selection process for national championship consideration.
  • A panel of head coaches representing each conference and the Continental Athletic Conference (Independents) votes in the poll.
  • The Top 25 teams are selected using a points-based system: 30 points for a 1st-place vote, 29 for 2nd, 28 for 3rd, and so on.
  • The highest and lowest rankings received by each team are discarded before final tallying.
  • Teams receiving only one point are not listed as “receiving votes.”
  • For the Preseason Poll, there is no "previous ranking" column since it is the initial poll and differs from the prior rating system.
