BOWLING GREEN, Ky.-- Freed-Hardeman’s (Tenn.) Drake Blackwood and Campbellsville’s (Ky.) Joe McBride are the Mid-South Conference Players of the Week, conference officials announced on Monday.
Pinnacle Financial Partners sponsors the Mid-South Conference Player of the Week Award program. Pinnacle Financial Partners was founded in 2000 and is headquartered in Nashville, Tennessee, with banks in eight states in the southeast United States.
MSC Baseball Player of the Week
Drake Blackwood - Freed-Hardeman (Tenn.) - Sr. - Summertown, Tenn.
- Blackwood batted .714 (10-for-14) in the four game sweep for Freed-Hardeman last week.
- Blackwood tallied two home runs, four doubles, and seven RBIs, while also posting a 1.429 slugging percentage and 20 total bases.
- Blackwood had two massive home runs in the final doubleheader, in game one he launched a grand slam, while his two-run shot in game two came in the eighth inning and eventually gave Freed-Hardeman the win.
- Blackwood earns his first weekly conference honors of the season.
MSC Baseball Pitcher of the Week
Joe McBride - Campbellsville (Ky.) - Sr. - Everett, Wash.
- McBride threw a masterpiece in game two of the series, tossing a complete-game, one-hit shutout to earn the crucial victory.
- McBride struck out eight Indiana Tech (Ind.) batters in his dominant performance on Saturday.
- He allowed one hit and two walks while throwing seven complete innings for the Tigers in his shutout.
- McBride earns his first weekly conference honors of the season.
