BOWLING GREEN, Ky. -- Campbellsville's (Ky.) Ashton Auker and Jerrod Johnson and Georgetown's (Ky.) Justice Burnam are the Mid-South Conference Football Players of the Week, conference officials announced on Monday.
MSC Football Defensive Player of the Week
Jerrod Johnson – Campbellsville (Ky.) – Jr. – Defensive Back – Auburndale, Fla.
- Johnson posted six tackles and two interceptions in Campbellsville's 33-26 road win over Cumberlands (Ky.) on Saturday.
- One of his interceptions occurred in the end zone with three seconds remaining before halftime that preserved Campbellsville’s 16-13 lead.
- Johnson's two picks were part of a four-takeaway day for the No. 13-ranked Tigers while they limited the Patriots to 248 total yards of offense.
- His two interceptions are tied for third in the MSC this season while his 26 tackles are 21st best in the conference.
- Johnson earns his second weekly conference honor of the season.
MSC Football Offensive Player of the Week
Justice Burnam – Georgetown (Ky.) – So. – Quarterback – Cincinnati, Ohio
- Burnam completed 26 of his 44 pass attempts for 323 yards in Georgetown's 24-21 overtime win over No. 11-ranked Lindsey Wilson (Ky.) on Saturday.
- He completed touchdown passes of six and 15 yards in the win.
- Burnam orchestrated the 10-play, 71-yard drive in the fourth quarter and converted a two-point attempt to tie the game with just under three minutes remaining in regulation.
- He ranks fourth in the MSC with 1,209 passing yards and eight touchdown passes.
- Burnam earns his first weekly conference honor of the season.
MSC Football Special Teams Player of the Week
Ashton Auker – Campbellsville (Ky.) – Sr. – Wide Receiver – Knoxville, Tenn.
- Auker returned a kickoff for a touchdown in Campbellsville's win at Cumberlands.
- He concluded the day averaging 56 yards per kickoff return, including a 99-yard return for a score to break a 19-19 tie late in the third quarter.
- Auker has three kickoff return touchdowns over the past two seasons.
- He is one of three players in the Mid-South Conference this season to score off a kickoff.
- Auker is averaging 29.8 yards per kickoff return this season, third best in the MSC.
- Auker earns his first Mid-South Conference weekly honor of the season.
