Lindsey Wilson Sweeps Mid-South Conference Football Players of the Week

BOWLING GREEN, Ky. -- Lindsey Wilson's (Ky.) Jadan Burns, Cameron Rankins, and Davontaye Saunders are the Mid-South Conference Football Players of the Week, conference officials announced on Monday.

Pinnacle Financial Partners sponsors the Mid-South Conference Player of the Week Award program. Pinnacle Financial Partners was founded in 2000 and is headquartered in Nashville, Tennessee, with banks in eight states in the southeast United States.

MSC Football Defensive Player of the Week
Cameron Rankins – Lindsey Wilson (Ky.) – Gr. – Linebacker – Hartsville, Tenn.
  • Rankins led the Lindsey Wilson defense in a 52-24 upset of No. 8-ranked St. Thomas (Fla.) on Saturday.
  • He recorded a team-high 11, including 1-1/2 tackles for a loss.
  • Rankins added 1/2 of a sack and a pass breakup to help Lindsey Wilson improve to 3-0 on the season.
  • Rankins leads the Blue Raiders with 21 tackles this season and is third in the MSC, averaging seven tackles per game.
  • Rankins earns his first weekly conference honor of his career.
 
MSC Football Offensive Player of the Week
Davontaye Saunders – Lindsey Wilson (Ky.) – Jr. – Running Back – Eminence, Ky.
  • Saunders rushed for 161 yards on just eight carries in the Blue Raiders' win over St. Thomas.
  • He rushed for a pair of touchdowns -- 79 and 55-yard runs. The 79-yard run was the fourth-longest in the program's history.
  • Saunders -- who only played in the first half -- helped the Blue Raiders amass 315 rushing yards and 520 yards of total offense in the win.
  • He leads the Mid-South Conference in rushing, averaging 102 rushing yards per game.
  • Saunders earns his first weekly offensive conference honor of his career.
 
MSC Football Special Teams Player of the Week
Jadan Burns – Lindsey Wilson (Ky.) – So. – Kicker/Punter – Gadsden, Ala.
  • Burns scored 10 points in the Blue Raiders' win.
  • He converted on all seven of his extra-point attempts and hit a 34-yard field goal in the second quarter -- his second-longest of the season.
  • Burns is now 3-for-3 this season on field goal attempts.
  • He also averaged 55.2 yards on nine kickoffs.
  • Burns is second in the MSC with 26 points this season.
  • Burns earns his first weekly conference honor of his career.
