Helton Named Lindsey Wilson Cross Country Coach and Track & Field Assistant

COLUMBIA, Ky. – 
Jamen Helton has been named the Lindsey Wilson men's and women's cross country coach, Director of Track & Field and Cross Country Anthony Thompson announced today.

Helton will also work with the Blue Raider track & field programs as an assistant coach.

"We're fortunate to have Coach Helton join the Blue Raider family," Thompson said. "Coach Helton is huge on developing relationships with our students to help align them for the future; and that's been our ultimate vision here at Lindsey Wilson."

"He has a plethora of experience coaching the distance events at the NCAA and NAIA levels," Thompson added. "He's a tireless recruiter and we are very confident in how he will help our program get to the heights we're working for!"

Helton previously served as the assistant coach at NCAA Division II Rogers State (Okla.) for the past two seasons. Before his time at Rogers State, Helton spent two seasons at fellow Mid-South Conference member Cumberlands (Ky.). Helton was named the MSC Women's Cross Country Assistant Coach of the Year in 2021 and the MSC Women's Outdoor Track & Field Assistant Coach of the Year in 2023. He came to Cumberlands from Daktoa Wesleyan (S.D.), where he was the Director of Track & Field and Cross Country. Under Helton, the Tigers had their first NAIA Track & Field champion.

Athletically, Helton competed at NCAA Division II Lewis University (Ill.) and also at NCAA Division II Drury University (Mo.). While competing at Drury, Helton broke the indoor track 5K record at the time and ranks in the top 10 of both the indoor and outdoor 3K and 5K all-time lists.
