BOWLING GREEN, Ky. – Cumberlands’ Tommy Chasanoff and Jared Kilgore were voted as the top sports communicators in the Mid-South Conference in 2024-25, MSC officials announced on Tuesday.

Chasanoff was selected as the Bill Sergent Sports Information Director of the Year, while Kilgore is the Mid-South Assistant SID of the Year.

The sports information director of the year is named after former Cumberlands' SID Bill Sergent, who served as the university's SID for 24 years.

The awards are presented to the sports communicators who demonstrate outstanding service in their profession to their institution, the Mid-South Conference, and to the NAIA at the conference, regional, and national levels. Special consideration will be given to individuals who have participated in MSC and/or NAIA championship events. Each institution's sports information director votes on the awards. They are not allowed to vote for themselves or their assistant.

Sports Information Director of the Year

Chasanoff earns his fifth conference sports information director of the year honor. He also earned the distinction in the 2017-18, 2019-20, 2020-21, and 2023-24 academic years.

Chasanoff led the communication efforts of the Patriots, who captured their second straight Learfield Directors’ Cup and their fourth straight Mid-South Conference President's Cup in 2024-25.

“This is an amazing honor to be voted by my colleagues as the Bill Sergent SID of the Year," Chasanoff said. "This award is a reflection of our entire Patriots staff that has worked diligently throughout the year to provide incredible coverage to our teams and student-athletes.

"I’m grateful to work with a fantastic team at UC as well as talented athletic communicators throughout the conference,” Chasanoff added.

In addition to his efforts for Cumberlands, Chasanoff helped lead the Mid-South Conference swimming and archery championships. He also worked for the NAIA as the lead media contact for the men's and women's swimming and diving national championships, as well as the men's and women's lacrosse national championships.

Assistant Sports Information Director of the Year

Kilgore earns his first Mid-South Conference Assistant Sports Information Director of the Year honor.

He helped the Cumberland sports communication office promote three national championship teams and 15 Mid-South Conference championship teams.

“I’m incredibly honored to be named the Mid-South Conference Assistant SID of the Year and even more humbled to be the first from our school to receive this recognition," Kilgore said. "This is truly a team award and a testament to the hard work and dedication of everyone in our office.

"I am so fortunate to get to work closely with our talented teams and student-athletes,” Kilgore added.

Kilgore led the Mid-South's media efforts at the conference's indoor and outdoor track & field championships. He earned two top-10 finishes for his entries in the NAIA-SIDA Publication Contest.
