Oliver was selected for the honor by the conference's character committee. Each full-member institution is permitted to nominate one male and one female coach from their staff for the honor.
"Looking back on my journey, the five core values of the NAIA: Integrity, Respect, Responsibility, Sportsmanship, and Servant Leadership, have not only shaped who I am but continue to guide who I want to become," Oliver said. "These values are more than words; they are lessons learned through experience, struggle, and moments of reflection."
Oliver earned the 2025 Patriot Award for her commitment to academics, athletics, and community service. She was also Cumberlands softball representative on the Mid-South Conference Champions of Character Team.
"Carly has made her mark through her dedication, resilience, and unrelenting work ethic," Cumberlands Athletics Director Chris Kraftick said. "But what truly sets Carly apart is her character. She holds herself accountable to the highest standards and uplifts those around her. Carly's presence creates a ripple effect -- she inspires those around her to be better, do more, and care deeply."
Oliver was a member of the Cumberlands' leadership group while serving as a graduate assistant in the athletic department, with a focus on game operations and fan experience.
"Carly's passion for mentoring and creating a positive, supportive environment for younger athletes is inspiring," former Cumberlands softball coach Bailey Dillender said. "Carly takes great pride in helping others find their love for the game and develop the skills necessary to excel, both on and off the field. She is a remarkable individual who exemplifies character, leadership, and unwavering commitment to giving back to the younger generation."
In addition to her off-the-field accolades, Oliver earned NAIA All-America Team honors while being named the Mid-South Conference Softball Player of the Year. She helped Cumberlands to a 40-9 overall record and a perfect 18-0 mark in the MSC en route to reaching the NAIA Softball World Series.
"As I look toward the future, I carry these (core) values with pride and gratitude," Oliver said. "They have shaped me in ways I never expected, and I know they’ll continue to guide me through every step, every challenge, and every opportunity to make a difference and be the best version of myself."
