BOWLING GREEN, Ky. -- Five Mid-South Conference institutions earned points in the first Learfield Directors’ Cup standings, National Association of Collegiate Directors of Athletics officials announced on Tuesday.
Cumberlands (Ky.) leads the MSC schools at second place in the standings with 385 points. Lindsey Wilson (Ky.) is 13th with 204 points, followed by Cumberland (Tenn.) in 36th spot with 114 points. Campbellsville (Ky.) is 64th with 70 points and Bethel (Tenn.) is 67th with 64 points.
The Learfield Directors' Cup was developed as a joint effort between NACDA and USA Today. Points are awarded based on each institution's finish in the NAIA Championships. The fall sports include men's and women's cross country, football, men's and women's soccer, and women's volleyball.
Cumberlands scored in five of the six sports during the fall championships. The Patriots finished national runner-up in women's soccer, third in men's cross country and men's soccer, ninth in women's volleyball, and 13th in women's cross country.
Lindsey Wilson scored in four sports: fifth in football, ninth in women's soccer, 17th in men's soccer, and 25th in women's volleyball.
Cumberland and Campbellsville each scored in two sports, while Bethel tallied points in one sport.
Cumberland finished ninth in men's soccer and 17th in women's soccer, Campbellsville picked up points with a ninth-place finish in football and a 33rd-place finish in women's soccer, and Bethel finished ninth in men's soccer.
Indiana Wesleyan leads the NAIA with 425 points. College of Idaho is third with 333.5 points, Marian (Ind.) is fourth with 296.5 points, and The Master's (Calif.) is fifth with 270 points.
The winter standings will be released on Thursday, April 2.
