BOWLING GREEN, Ky. -- Three hundred and seventy-three Mid-South Conference fall student-athletes have earned National Association of Intercollegiate Athletics (NAIA) Scholar-Athlete honors, NAIA officials announced today.
The fall sports include men's cross country, women's cross country, football, men's soccer, women's soccer, and women's volleyball.
To qualify as an NAIA Scholar-Athlete, students must maintain a minimum cumulative grade point average of 3.5 on a 4.0 scale, appear on the eligibility certificate for their sport, and have attended their institution for at least one full year.
Cumberland's (Tenn.) 75 fall scholar-athletes lead the Mid-South Conference. Cumberlands (Ky.) is second with 67 fall scholar-athletes, and Georgetown (Ky.) is third with 60. Lindsey Wilson's (Ky.) 51, Campbellsville's (Ky.) 45, Freed-Hardeman's (Tenn.) 40, Bethel's (Tenn.) 29, and Faulkner's (Ala.) six complete the MSC honorees. Faulkner is in the Mid-South in football only.
The NAIA recognized 6,486 fall scholar-athletes over the six fall sports.
The winter scholar-athletes will be announced in March.
