Three Mid-South Teams Ranked in the final Netting Professionals NAIA Football Top 25 Coaches’ Poll

BOWLING GREEN, Ky. -- Three Mid-South Conference teams are ranked in the final Netting Professionals NAIA Football Top 25 Coaches’ Poll, NAIA officials announced on Sunday.

Campbellsville (Ky.), Georgetown (Ky.), and Lindsey Wilson (Ky.) are ranked, while Cumberland (Tenn.) is just outside the top-25 in the final poll of the regular season.

Lindsey Wilson (9-1) climbed one spot this week to No. 7 after beating Bethel (Tenn.) 33-14 on Saturday. The Blue Raiders received 344 voting points from the national raters. With the win, Lindsey Wilson claims the MSC regular-season title and an automatic bid into the NAIA Football Championship Series.

Campbellsville (8-2) slipped five places to No. 15 this week after its 34-32 loss at Georgetown yesterday. The Tigers picked up 234 voting points from the raters. Campbellsville earned an at-large bid into the FCS.

Georgetown (7-3) moved up two spots to No. 18 after the Campbellsville win on Saturday. The Tigers garnered 205 voting points from the raters.

Cumberland (7-4) received 65 voting points as one of 10 teams to earn a mention outside the top 25. The Phoenix closed out their season yesterday with a 72-14 win over Faulkner (Ala.) in Lebanon, Tennessee.

Grand View (Iowa) finished the regular season atop the poll with 435 voting points, including 15 of the 16 first-place votes. Keiser (Fla.) is No. 2 with 421 voting points and the final first-place vote. Benedictine (Kan.) is No. 3 with 404 points, and Montana Tech is No. 4 with 388 voting points.

The postseason poll is scheduled to be released on Monday, January 5.

 

Ratings Methodology

  • The national poll is for publicity purposes only and does not influence the selection process for national championship consideration.
  • A panel of head coaches representing each conference and the Continental Athletic Conference (Independents) votes in the poll.
  • The Top 25 teams are selected using a points-based system: 30 points for a 1st-place vote, 29 for 2nd, 28 for 3rd, and so on.
  • The highest and lowest rankings received by each team are discarded before final tallying.
  • Teams receiving only one point are not listed as “receiving votes.”
