BOWLING GREEN, Ky. – Campbellsville University’s Jagger Gillis (Offensive), Dq Brown (Defensive), and Bethel University’s Oziel Hernandez (Special Teams) are the Mid-South Conference Football Players of the Week, conference officials announced on Monday.
MSC Football Offensive Player of the Week
Jagger Gillis – Campbellsville (Ky.) – Jr. – Quarterback – Lawrenceburg, Kentucky
- Gillis led the Tigers to a 27-14 victory in their first conference game over Cumberland (Tenn.) to remain unbeaten.
- Gillis went 22/34, earning 259 yards, and 2 touchdowns to go along with the victory.
- Gillis’s offensive output earns him this honor for the first time this season and the second time Campbellsville has earned the honor in this category this season.
MSC Football Defensive Player of the Week
Dq Brown – Campbellsville (Ky.) – Sr. – Defensive Back – Phenix City, Alabama
- In their Conference game last week Brown helped the Tigers defeat Cumberland (Tenn.) 27-14 to remain unbeaten.
- Brown came up clutch in the fourth quarter, snagging a pick six and then another interception right after to end the game, while adding 2 tackles on the day.
- This is Brown’s first time earning this honor as well as the first time Campbellsville has earned this honor in this category this season.
MSC Football Special Teams Player of the Week
Oziel Hernandez - Bethel (Tenn..) - Fr. - Kicker/Punter – Memphis, Tennessee
- Hernandez went a perfect 4-4 in PAT’s last week to help the Wildcats remain undefeated 5-0, defeating Cumberlands (Ky.) in their first conference game.
- The redshirt Freshman has earned this honor for the first time this season, as Bethel’s only athlete to earn Special Teams honors so far this season.
