BOWLING GREEN, Ky. – Cumberland’s (Tenn.) Wesley Mendoza and Georgetown’s (Ky.) Simon Heine are the Mid-South Conference Men’s Soccer Players of the Week, conference officials announced on Monday.
MSC Men’s Soccer Defensive Player of the Week
Simon Heine – Georgetown (Ky.) – Sr. - Goalkeeper – Frankfurt, Germany
- Heine recorded a clean sheet in the match against Centre (Ky.)
- He made five saves and kept the match scoreless, helping the Tigers to the 1-0 win.
- Heine earns the first weekly conference honor of the season.
MSC Men’s Soccer Offensive Player of the Week
Wesley Mendoza – Cumberland (Tenn.) – Sr. – Forward - Nashville, Tenn.
- Mendoza scored three goals last week, including both game-winning goals, to help lead the No. 6 Phoenix to a 4-0 start to the season.
- He scored twice on four shots in a 3-2 victory over Truett McConnell (Ga.), including the game-winning goal in the 76th minute.
- Mendoza also scored the game-winning goal in the Phoenix’s 2-1 road victory over defending NAIA National Champion Grand View.
- Mendoza earns his first conference weekly honor of the season.
