Cumberlands Holds Early Lead at MSC Women’s Outdoor Track & Field Championships After Day One

Columbia, Ky. -- Cumberlands (Ky.) leads following the first day of the Mid-South Conference Women's Outdoor Track & Field Championships at Parnell Family Stadium.

The Patriots tallied 98 points on the first day of the competition. Lindsey Wilson sits in second with 61 points. Georgetown (Ky.) currently ranks third with 50 points, followed by Cumberland (Tenn.) in fourth with 15 points. Campbellsville (Ky.) is fifth with 14 points, while Bethel (Tenn.) rounds out the standings with two points.

Cumberlands' Alina Boshchuk won the 10,000-meter run with a time of 39:46.09. Cumberlands' Heather Durrant finished first in the 5,000-meter race walk with a time of 25:14.17.

Georgetown's Katelynn Gaddis won the 3,000-meter steeplechase with a time of 12:06.88, while Cumberlands' Hope Boa, Grace Nelson, Kayleigh Burkhead, and Rylee Schaffner won the 4x800 meter relay with a time of 9:59.64.

Lindsey Wilson's Reagan Cheatham won the hammer throw with a mark of 46.33 meters while Cumberlands' Aliah Laster won the pole vault with a clearance of 3.05 meters.

Lindsey Wilson's Rosemond Owusu won the long jump with a mark of 5.65 meters. Cumberlands' Katie Slade won the javelin with a throw of 35.37 meters.

All student-athletes to win their respective event earn first-team all-conference while second place earns second-team all-conference and third place earn third-team honors.

The second day of the championship will begin at 11 a.m. CT on Monday at Parnell Family Stadium.
