Cumberlands Leads After Opening Day of MSC Men’s Outdoor Track & Field Championships

Columbia, Ky. — Cumberlands (Ky.) leads following the first day of the Mid-South Conference Men’s Outdoor Track & Field Championships at Parnell Family Stadium.

The Patriots sit atop the standings with 98 points. Lindsey Wilson is second with 63 points, followed by Campbellsville in third with 56 points. Georgetown (Ky.) ranks fourth with 38 points, Bethel (Tenn.) is fifth with 18 points, Freed-Hardeman is sixth with 13 points, and Cumberland (Tenn.) rounds out the standings in seventh with eight points.

In the distance events, Bethel’s Cedrion Cook won the 10,000-meter run with a time of 33:07.04, while Campbellsville’s Martin Batel captured the 3,000-meter steeplechase in 9:31.84. Cumberlands also claimed victory in the 4x800-meter relay, as Tavon Davis, Hugo Massa, Ryan Ehrler, and Max Young crossed the line in 7:38.43.

Cumberlands added another title as Lucien Beardsley won the 5,000-meter race walk with a time of 20:43.89.

In the field events, Campbellsville’s Joel Roberts won the hammer throw with a mark of 43.63 meters. Lindsey Wilson’s Maxwell Wordui took first in the long jump with a mark of 7.33 meters, while Cumberlands’ Seth Massie earned the pole vault title, clearing 4.60 meters. Georgetown’s John Rahbany won the javelin with a throw of 45.88 meters.

All student-athletes to win their respective event earn first-team all-conference honors, while second place earns second-team honors and third place earns third-team honors.

The second day of the championship will begin at 11 a.m. CT on Monday at Parnell Family Stadium.
