Late-Inning Heroics and Strong Pitching Highlight Second Day of the MSC Softball Tournament

COLUMBIA, Ky. – The Second day of the 2026 Mid-South Conference Softball Tournament featured strong pitching performances, explosive offense, and walk-off thrillers at Marilyn D. Sparks Park at the Lindsey Wilson Sports Park.

No. 6 seed Cumberland (Tenn.) and No. 3 seed Campbellsville (Ky.) both earned wins earlier in the day, while No. 1 seed Lindsey Wilson (Ky.) survived a thriller in extra innings. No. 2 seed Cumberlands (Ky.) closed the night with a narrow victory over Campbellsville to remain in the winner’s bracket.
 
4) Freed-Hardeman (Tenn.) def. 5) Georgetown (Ky.) - 1-0
Freed-Hardeman (21-19) leaned on a dominant pitching performance from Hannah Jones to edge Georgetown (17-21) 1-0 in a tightly contested matchup.

Jones tossed a complete-game one-hitter, allowing just one hit while striking out two and walking three in the shutout victory.

The lone run of the game came in the second inning when Reagan Locke delivered a sacrifice fly to score Jones, which proved to be the difference.

With the win, Freed-Hardeman advanced to face top-seeded Lindsey Wilson, while Georgetown moved to the elimination bracket.
 
3) Campbellsville (Ky.) def. 6) Cumberland (Tenn.) – 10-2
Campbellsville (29-15) broke the game open with an eight-run fifth inning en route to a 10-2 win over Cumberland (18-24).

The Tigers tallied 12 hits in the contest, with multiple players contributing to the offensive surge. Madison Reed led the way with three RBIs, while Hannah Hackworth delivered the biggest blow with a three-run home run during the decisive inning.

Korey Harris and Lydia Jones each recorded multiple hits, helping Campbellsville build momentum late in the game.

Emma Markham earned the win in the circle, allowing just two runs (one earned) over five innings while striking out five. Ellie Coley closed out the game in relief.

With the win, Campbellsville advances to face No. 2 seed Cumberlands, while Cumberland moves to the elimination bracket.
 
1) Lindsey Wilson (Ky.) def. 4) Freed-Hardeman (Tenn.) 8-7 (9 innings)
In one of the most thrilling games of the tournament so far, Lindsey Wilson (38-6) walked off Freed-Hardeman (21-19) 8-7 in extra innings.

Freed-Hardeman appeared to seize control late, highlighted by a pair of home runs from Myleah Hardy, including a go-ahead two-run shot in the top of the ninth inning.

However, Lindsey Wilson responded in the bottom half, as Summer Ray delivered a three-run walk-off home run to secure the comeback victory.

With the win, Lindsey Wilson advances to play Cumberlands at 4 p.m. CT on Friday, while Freed-Hardeman moves to play Cumberland at 11 a.m. CT on Friday
 
2) Cumberland (Ky.) def. 3) Campbellsville (Ky.) 6-5
Cumberlands (34-16) used a late push to edge Campbellsville (29-15) 6-5 in a tightly contested matchup.

Campbellsville jumped out early, plating five runs through the first three innings, highlighted by a two-run single from Madison Reed and a two-RBI double from Rylee Warner.

Cumberlands responded with three runs in the third inning to tie the game, fueled by a two-RBI double from Makenzie Henderson.

After a scoreless stretch, Henderson delivered again in the seventh with an RBI single to bring home the game-winning run.

With the win, Cumberlands advances in the winner’s bracket to face Lindsey Wilson while Campbellsville moves to the elimination bracket to play Georgetown at 1:30 p.m. CT on Friday.
