Deskins, Petrey Earn Mid-South Conference Baseball Weekly Honors

BOWLING GREEN, Ky.-- Georgetown’s (Ky.) Ashton Deskins and Cumberlands’ (Ky.) Caden Petrey are the Mid-South Conference Players of the Week, conference officials announced on Monday.

Pinnacle Financial Partners sponsors the Mid-South Conference Player of the Week Award program. Pinnacle Financial Partners was founded in 2000 and is headquartered in Nashville, Tennessee, with banks in eight states in the southeast United States. 

MSC Baseball Player of the Week 
Caden Petrey - Cumberlands (Ky.) - Sr. - Williamsburg, Ky. 
  • Petrey batted .615 on the week to help No.9 Cumberlands go 3-1 on the week with wins over Midway University (Ky.) and Freed-Hardeman University (Tenn.).
  • Petrey had two three- hit performances game two against the Lions Petrey went 3-3 with two home runs and a pair of RBI.
  • Petrey’s final statline was 8-for-13, three home runs, four RBIs, three walks, scored eight runs, and had an on-base percentage of .688.
  • Petrey earns his first weekly conference honors of the season. 

MSC Baseball Pitcher of the Week
Ashton Deskins - Georgetown (Ky.) - Sr. - Delbarton, WV.
  • Deskins picked up three saves this week to help Georgetown go 4-1 on the week with wins over Campbellsville (Ky.) and RV Oakland City (In.). 
  • Deskins threw five scoreless innings over three games, collecting three saves with seven strikeouts while only giving up one hit. 
  • Deskins is tied in the league in saves with five. 
  • Deskins earns his first weekly conference honors of the season
