Jones, Cord Claim Mid-South Conference Softball Weekly Honors

BOWLING GREEN, Ky. – Campbellsville’s (Ky.) Lydia Jones and Cumberlands’ (Ky.) Jessica Cord are the Mid-South Conference Softball Players of the Week, conference officials announced Monday.

Pinnacle Financial Partners sponsors the Mid-South Conference Player of the Week Award program. Pinnacle Financial Partners was founded in 2000 and is headquartered in Nashville, Tennessee, with banks in eight states in the southeast United States.

MSC Softball Player of the Week
Lydia Jones – Campbellsville (Ky.) – Jr. – Bowling Green, Ky.
  • Jones hit .667 (12-for-18) across five games to lead Campbellsville
  • She scored eight runs and recorded five RBIs during the week.
  • Jones posted a perfect 4-for-4 performance in a run-rule victory over Johnson (Tenn.).
  • She added seven hits and four RBIs in a weekend series sweep over Bethel (Tenn.).
  • Jones earns her first Mid-South Conference Player of the Week honor of the season.
 
MSC Softball Pitcher of the Week
Jessica Cord – Cumberlands (Ky.) – Sr. – Prattville, Ala.
  • Cord went 2-0 with a 1.08 ERA across 13.0 innings of work.
  • She struck out 13 batters while allowing just two runs on eight hits.
  • Cord tossed a complete-game no-hitter in a run-rule win over Georgetown (Ky.).
  • She added a complete-game victory in an extra-inning 3-2 win to secure the series.
  • Cord earns her forth Mid-South Conference Pitcher of the Week honor of the season.
