BOWLING GREEN, Ky. – Freed-Hardeman (Tenn.) men's basketball coach Drew Stutts is the NAIA National Coach of the Year, and four Mid-South Conference student-athletes earned NAIA All-America Team honors, NAIA officials announced today.
Lindsey Wilson's (Ky.) Kenyata Carbon and Cumberlands' (Ky.) Kyle Duke earned NAIA Second-Team All-America, while Freed-Hardeman's Phil Horton and Rico Sain earned NAIA Third-Team All-America.
Stutts led the Lions to a 35-1 record and the 2026 NAIA National Championship -- the program's second national title. He guided Freed-Hardeman to a perfect Mid-South Conference regular season and the conference tournament title. The Lions finished the season on a 32-game winning streak. Stutts adds the national award to his MSC Coach of the Year honor this season.
Carbon -- the MSC Men's Basketball Player of the Year -- averaged 19 points and 3.9 assists per game this season, both second best in the MSC. Duke led the Mid-South in scoring, averaging 20.4 points per game.
Horton averaged 14.3 points per game while leading the Lions to the national title, where he was named the national tournament's most valuable player. Sain -- the MSC Randy Vernon Defensive Player of the Year -- averaged 11.4 points per game while leading the MSC, averaging 2.4 steals per game.
Freed-Hardeman is one of three teams to have two all-Americans.
Northwestern's (Iowa) Jesse Van Kalsbeek is the 2026 NAIA Men's Basketball Player of the Year.
The All-America selections are made by the NAIA Men's Basketball All-America Committee. Twelve student-athletes are represented as first and second teams, while 17 are represented on the third team.
