BOWLING GREEN, Ky. -- Top-seeded Freed-Hardeman made the most of its tournament debut with a 79-49 win over No. 5-seed Campbellsville (Ky.) in the Mid-South Conference Men's Basketball Semifinals tonight at Bowling Green Arena.
The Lions advance to Monday's championship game against the winner of No. 3-seed Cumberlands (Ky.) and No. 7-seed Bethel (Tenn.). Tip-off for the tournament finals is scheduled for 7:30 p.m. CT.
Freed-Hardeman (28-1) shot nearly 55 percent from the floor in the first half, including making 8-of-14 3-pointers, to build a 25-point (46-21) halftime lead en route to the win. The victory is the ninth straight conference tournament win for the Lions, who have not lost in the MSC Tournament since the 2021-22 season.
Freed-Hardeman scored 16 of the first 20 points in the game while limiting the Tigers (19-11) to just 22.7 percent (5-of-22) in the opening half.
For the game, the Lion defense held Campbellsville to just under 31 percent shooting while forcing 16 turnovers. Freed-Hardeman turned those miscues into 20 points.
Phil Horton -- the H&W-Dukes Sports Player of the Game -- led three Lions in double figures with 23 points. Jailen Anderson chipped in 16 points.
Campbellsville's Javaughn Smith led the Tigers with nine points.
