SIOUX CITY, IOWA -- In the 2026 NAIA Women's Basketball National Championship Round of 16, the Georgetown (Ky.) Tigers outlasted the Freed-Hardeman (Tenn.) Lions 74–68 in overtime, using a late fourth-quarter push and a decisive extra period to hand the Lions a six-point loss.
The Tigers came out sharp, building a 21–15 lead after the first quarter, but the offense cooled in the second and third periods. The Lions capitalized with a 17–8 third quarter to take control heading into the fourth. Georgetown was down entering the final frame, but responded with a 21–15 fourth quarter, knotting it up at 60-60. GC finished the game, winning the extra session 14–8.
For Georgetown, Daisy Gale led with 25 points, going 4–for-7 from beyond the arc and 9–for–9 at the line. Her perfect free-throw shooting was pivotal in a game decided in overtime. Kayra Freeman followed with 21 points on 7–of-16 shooting, adding six rebounds and three assists. Daysha Reid also tallied 17 points, with nine rebounds and three made threes. The Tigers also got key interior help from Jordan Day, who posted six rebounds and three blocks, along with key bench contributions from Laisha Lazu, who had seven points, six rebounds, and two blocks.
Ally Weathers led the charge for Freed-Hardeman with 23 points and 13 rebounds for a double-double on the afternoon. Jenna Satterly followed with 17 points, including 6-for-8 at the charity stripe. Brooklyn Crouch added 13 points and four assists for the Lions.
Georgetown outshot Freed-Hardeman from the three, shooting 45% compared to the Lions 18%. The Tigers also won the defensive battle and were able to force 13 Lion turnovers, while committing just 11 of their own.
With the loss, Freed-Hardeman is eliminated from tournament play and finishes the season 30-3 overall.
Georgetown, with the victory, will play Saturday, March 21, at 1 p.m. CT against the winner of Dakota State (S.D.) and Indiana Wesleyan. This marks the program's fifth quarterfinal appearance since 1993.
