BOWLING GREEN, Ky. -- Three Mid-South Conference teams are ranked in the first Stadionic-NAIA National Selection Committee (NSC) Poll, NAIA officials announced on Tuesday.
Campbellsville (Ky.), Georgetown (Ky.), and Lindsey Wilson (Ky.) are ranked in the first of three NSC Polls.
The NSC Poll -- completed by the committee that selects and seeds the NAIA Football Championship Series -- replaces the coaches' top 25. The committee uses primary and secondary criteria to rank the top 15 teams. One of those criteria is rankings from the Area Ratings Committees (ARC), represented entirely by coaches throughout that area.
Georgetown is the top-ranked Mid-South Conference team at No. 9. The Tigers (5-2) defeated Bethel (Tenn.) 52-14 last Saturday. Georgetown leads the MSC with a 3-0 conference record. The Tigers host Cumberlands (Ky.) at 1:30 p.m. ET on Saturday in Georgetown.
Campbellsville sits one spot behind Georgetown at No. 10. The Tigers won their second straight last Saturday with a 31-14 home win over Cumberland (Tenn.). Campbellsville (6-1) heads to McKenzie, Tenn., this Saturday to face Bethel. Kickoff is scheduled for 2:30 p.m. ET.
Lindsey Wilson (6-2) checks in at No. 11 in the NSC poll following a 76-0 win at Andrew (Ga.) last Saturday. The Blue Raiders return to action at 1:30 p.m. CT on Saturday as they travel to Cumberland in Lebanon, Tenn.
St. Thomas (Fla.) is No. 1 in the poll, followed by College of Idaho and Benedictine (Kan.).
The Mid-South Conference is paired with The Sun Conference and the Appalachian Athletic Conference in the East ARC. St. Thomas is the top-rated team in the East, followed by Georgetown, Campbellsville, and Lindsey Wilson. Cumberland is ranked No. 6 in the East ARC.
The next NSC Poll is scheduled for Tuesday, Nov. 3.
