BOWLING GREEN, Ky. -- Cumberland University takes over the No.1 spot and Lindsey Wilson comes in at No.18 in the latest NAIA Men's Soccer Top 25 Poll, as announced by the NAIA on Wednesday.
Cumberland University (Tenn.) moved up two spots to No. 1 after previously coming in at No. 3 in the poll. The Phoenix remain unbeaten at 9-0-2 on the season and are one of two Mid-South Conference programs represented in the latest Top 25.
Cumberland has posted a 4-0 record over its last four matches. The Phoenix began the stretch with a trio of dominant wins, outscoring opponents 12-2 and then most recently went to Georgia and took down then ranked No. 6 Georgia Gwinnett College, 4-2, helping Cumberland to their first ever No. 1 ranking in program history.
Lindsey Wilson University (Ky.) dropped eight spots to No.18 after previously being ranked No. 10 in the latest rankings. The Blue Raiders are 5-4 on the season and are 1-2 in their last three matches.
Over their last three contests, Lindsey Wilson lost to Bethel University (Tenn.) 2-1, followed that with a 3-2 loss over now ranked No.3 Tennessee Southern, and closed the stretch with a 3-2 win against University of the Cumberlands (Ky.). The Blue Raiders will face off with the now ranked No.1 Cumberland University Friday in their next match.
Cumberland University comes in at No. 1 after receiving 4 first-place votes and posting a 9-0-2 record. Olivet Nazarene (Ill.) moved up to No. 2, while Tennessee Southern rounds out the top three.
Indiana Tech dropped two spots to No. 4 after posting a 8-1-1, and MidAmerica Nazarene (Kan.) rounded out the top five and received one first place vote.
The Fourth regular-season NAIA Men's Soccer Top 25 Poll will be released on October 14.
