Cumberland (Tenn.) used back-to-back explosive innings — scoring four runs in the second and eight in the third — to notch a 14-9 win over sixth-seeded Lindsey Wilson (Ky.) in Thursday’s opening round.

Jacey Hatfield and Ashley Evans sparked the Phoenix offense with a combined five RBIs, while Karley Daughrity and Karsyn France each drove in two runs. Azaria Jones and France both homered, and Abby Chappell tallied two RBIs on a pair of hits.

Madison Croxford earned the win in the circle, throwing 6.1 innings and allowing six earned runs on nine hits with three strikeouts to improve to 9-10 on the season.

Cumberland advances to face Bethel (Tenn.) at 9:30 A.M. C.T. while Lindsey Wilson (23-20) drops to the elimination bracket for a must-win game against Campbellsville.

Campbellsville exploded for five runs in the second inning and added two more in the third to secure a 10-2 run-rule victory over seventh-seeded Bethel in Thursday’s opening round.

Emily Reynolds led the Tigers at the plate and in the circle, going 2-for-3 with a home run and four RBIs while tossing a complete game with six hits allowed and two strikeouts to improve to 5-0 on the year. Jessie Daniels and Madison Reed each homered and combined for five RBIs.

Campbellsville totaled 11 hits, including four for extra bases, and committed no errors in the field. Bethel’s Jaelyn Wiers and Kinsley Nichols each drove in a run during the fifth, but the Wildcats were limited to six hits overall.

Campbellsville advanced in the winner’s bracket, while Bethel falls into an elimination game set for Friday morning.

Top-seeded Cumberlands (Ky.) used a five-run first inning to power past Cumberland (Tenn.) 12-1 in five innings on Thursday.

Jules Johnson led the Patriots with four RBIs on a double and a single, while Amber Gainer and Maliyah Wilkins each homered and drove in two. Aniyah White and Jade Gainer also chipped in with RBIs during Cumberlands' 11-hit performance.

Lindsey Shope was dominant in the circle, allowing just one run on four hits over five innings to improve to 20-3 on the season. She struck out one and walked two.

Cumberland scored its lone run in the second inning on an RBI from Azaria Jones but committed two errors and managed only four hits.

Cumberlands advances in the winner’s bracket, while Cumberland drops into the elimination round of the tournament.

Freed-Hardeman (Tenn.) struck early and never trailed, to earn a 5-1 victory over Campbellsville (Ky.) in Thursday’s winner’s bracket matchup.

Myleah Hardy led the Lions at the plate, going 3-for-3 with a home run, a double, and two RBIs. Brinley Cousar and Lana Rowland each added an RBI, while Freed-Hardeman tallied seven total hits and took advantage of a Campbellsville error.

Kylee Brown went the distance in the circle for the win, allowing just one run on five hits with three strikeouts to improve to 13-10 on the season.

Jessie Daniels drove in the lone run for Campbellsville (27-15), while Emily Reynolds recorded two hits, including a double. The Tigers left eight runners on base and committed one error in the loss.

Freed-Hardeman moves on in the winner’s bracket to face Cumberlands (Ky.) at 2:30 tomorrow, while Campbellsville falls into the elimination round against Lindsey Wilson.
