MOBILE, Ala. - The #13 UC Men's Tennis team concluded its season in the Quarterfinals of the 2025 NAIA National Championships, falling 4-1 to No. 5 seed Southeastern (Fla.) on Thursday afternoon at the Mobile Tennis Center.
Southeastern opened the day strong, taking the first two doubles matches to clinch the point and take the early 1-0 advantage.
The Fire continued to stack wins to take a 3-0 advantage after earning victories at the #1 and #2 spots.
Pierluigi Cruypennick put the Patriots on the board with a dominant singles win in straight sets to cut the deficit to 3-1. The senior defeated Mark Griffin 6-2, 6-3 at #5 singles.
Southeastern was able to pick up another win at the #6 spot to send the Fire to the next round while the rest of the match was left unfinished.
UC closes the season with an overall record of 20-9 and 5-1 in the Mid-South Conference. The Pats made it to the Quarterfinals of the NAIA National Championships for the first time since 2003. Cumberlands battled through a tough schedule and was able to secure nine wins against opponents ranked or receiving votes in the NAIA Coaches' Poll.
